Tartu Biotechnology Park as the EIT Food Country Representative in Estonia

Tartu Biotechnology Park was selected as the EIT Food Country Representative in Estonia for the period 2026–2028, building on its previous role as the EIT Food RIS Hub in Estonia from 2022 to 2025.

In this role, we connect Estonian startups, innovators, researchers, companies and emerging teams with opportunities offered by EIT Food, one of Europe’s leading innovation communities shaping the future of food.

We support the visibility of EIT Food activities in Estonia, strengthen connections between local stakeholders and the wider European agrifood innovation ecosystem, and help startups, companies, researchers and talent access relevant EIT Food programmes, funding opportunities, education and international networks.

Our focus is on startup support and scouting, ecosystem engagement, education and skills development, and strengthening innovation capacity in Estonia’s agrifood sector. We also contribute to national ecosystem-building activities and support the development of new collaborations between research, industry, startups and other key stakeholders.

About EIT Food Country Representatives

EIT Food Country Representatives are members of the EIT Community Hubs in their respective countries. They are independent organisations appointed to connect national agrifood ecosystems in Southern and Eastern Europe with EIT Food’s ecosystem, activities, and opportunities. A central part of their role is to build strong pipelines of agrifood startups for EIT Food’s entrepreneurship programmes by scouting promising ventures, engaging incubators and accelerators, and providing hands-on support during application processes. They also attract learners to EIT Food’s education initiatives, including the EIT Food Master in Food Systems and the EU Skills Academies in Biotechnology and Resilient Agriculture. In addition, EIT Food Country Representatives help strengthen national innovation networks by facilitating collaboration, sharing information about relevant opportunities, and delivering activities that build innovation and entrepreneurship capacity within the agrifood sector. This appointment is part of the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS), one of EIT’s key measures to broaden participation in the EIT Community and address regional disparities in innovation capacity.
