Morning Health Talks Tartu “e-Health – reshaping the future of healthcare / experiences from Estonia and Scandinavia”
The second event of year 2021 EIT Health Morning Health Talks Tartu took place on 29 September from 10:00 to 12:30 in a form of an hybrid coffee morning. Event focused on potential, trends and desirable progress of e-health and practical examples of projects in the field from Estonia and Scandinavia.
EIT Health Morning Health Talks (MHT) is a regional forum discussion and networking platform with the aim of co-shaping and improving the healthcare innovation ecosystem in RIS regions.

The central theme of the event was e-health. The main discussion points were the potential of e-health in today’s changing world, as well the potential dangers involved and the factors limiting its development. The event provided practical examples of projects in the field, including the results of the study “Clinical Flagship Projects in Personal Medicine in Precise Prevention of Breast Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases” conducted by the consortium estPerMed I and the current main activities in the development of Estonian e-health system and its most important goals.

Speakers
Lars Lindsköld, MD, Regional developer, Department of digitalization, Region Västra Götaland Sweden. Previously Portfolio manager Swelife, lead the Sweper project – a Swedish national initiative to support the usage of systematic health data in personalized medicine. Senior lecture Informatics, Department of Applied Information Technology, Gothenburg University, Senior adviser AI Innovation of Sweden and Secretary Swedish Association of Medical Informatics, Institutional member officer EFMI.
Dr. Lindsköld has a long digitalization experience of Radiology, Pathology, and Teledermatology (e-Health). His research is based on Interoperability within big data and AI with a focus on Semantic Interoperability driven by profession.
Charlotta Gummerson, CEO of the Sahlgrenska Science park, Sweden
Charlotta has extensive experience in managing companies and projects within the health and healthcare industry, and has previously held leading positions in the pharmaceutical industry such as GlaxoSmithKline and Astellas Pharma. She has also been responsible for investment management in early stage growth companies within life science and health at Almi Invest in Sweden.
Beside her position as the CEO of Sahlgrenska Science Park she is also member of the Jury of Nordic ehealthAward and holds several board and steering group positions within the field. Charlotta has basic medical training as a registered nurse specialized in surgery & medicine and has studied business & administration and leadership.
Fred Kjellson, PhD, Innovation Manager (Health), Innovation Skane
Fred is an innovation manager with 20 years of experience from the medical device field in research and development all the way to marketing, as researcher, product manager and CEO of a medical device start-up company. He is now focusing on bridging the public healthcare with innovative companies for developing new solutions, often in a cross-border, cross-organization, multi-helix approach, using testbeds or Living Labs as gateways, but also participating in public innovation procurements for successful demand driven innovation. He is part of Innovation Skåne, which is the Region Skåne’s fully owned innovation company.
Kertti Merimaa is an e-health advisor at the Ministry of Social Affairs, where she mainly focuses on the goal of ensuring a cooperative and interoperable e-health ecosystem. She is part of the core team preparing for a new generation Health Information System project, and as part of which implementing innovations in e-Health governance and interoperability, such as classification management and unification of terminology. Kertti has an academic background from the University of Tartu in information and knowledge management and business analysis, especially focusing on information competence.
Krista Kruuv-Käo is a personal medicine expert, whose professional track record contains successful establishment and management of The Estonian Genome Center of The University of Tartu (former Estonian Genome Project Foundation). The main goal of the foundation was creation of the population-based Biobank – Eesti Geenivaramu. She has also experience in management of health care service providing company Karell Medical Center as a CEO and management of personalised medicine projects at Estonian Competence Centre on Health Technologies. Currently, Krista is leading the consortium estPermed I.
Krista Kruuv-Käo has graduated from University of Tartu, Estonia as a medical doctor.
